Do participants need a camera?

Yes, participants will need to provide their own cameras. Maybe one day I'll get a sponsor from Nikon? :)
For kids, a simple point and shoot device is more than enough. Smartphones are an easy and great option. Check in with me for more information about your camera choice, depending on the type of class I'm offering you.

IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE A CAMERA, I CAN HELP! JUST GET IN TOUCH.

Does the Rando in Fotorando mean anything?

Rando is short for "randonnée" in French which means a walk, a hike, a ramble or a trek. So no, it isn't random!

How safe is this activity? Does Fotorando provide transportation for kids?

It's very safe : locations for kids classes are central, family friendly and always within cell service. Moving slowly is a key element of the structure and sticking together is mandatory! I'm a first aid responder and experienced in outdoor settings. For all the facts, be sure to check out the safety protocols for kids on the booking page.
During courses for kids,  I'll implement a buddy system within the group to encourage interaction, a sense of security and team work.

Authorized parents/guardians are required to drop off/pick up children at the scheduled locations (unless authorized differently for teens). No child will ever be left unnatended!

Are there classes of other levels and/or different age groups?

I'm planning to include a variety of courses geared towards different age groups/levels and in other locations of the Island. I'm just getting started ... so stay tuned!

DSLR's for beginners is on the list! Private and custom courses are always an option, just get in touch!

What's "A side of French" and do participants need any knowledge of French? THIS HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO LOW INTEREST. FRENCH IMMERSION AND/OR FULLY FRENCH CLASSES ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST.

Absolutely not! All levels are welcome because this aspect is really just an added bonus! During active assignment time, participants can pick up a few words from me that  relate to their immediate surroundings or in relation to photography. Those that are already familiar with the language simply get to practice in a spontaneous fashion, and perhaps even help out those who aren't! No pressure! Note that not all courses include a side of French.

Do courses still occur if it's raining?

Yes, courses will run rain or shine so please prepare accordingly. However, in case of extreme weather conditions, courses may be post poned if the conditions are deemed too risky or too unpleasant!

What should my child bring?

Other than a camera, your child should carry a small backpack with a few supplies such as : some water, a small lunch and extra clothing in case of weather changes.

Can parents supervise the activity?

Parents are welcome to remain in the vicinity of the activity within close reach. However, I do ask that they keep a distance from the group and interact only if necessary. One of the goals when introducing photography to kids is to offer them a space to build a sense of self reliance, individuality and autonomy. I conduct the activity in very small groups for this reason, there's also less chance of social discomforts.
In addition, it isn't productive to have a lot of people around when
praticing the art of photography! If you have a neurodivergent child or any special needs regarding your child, just get in touch. I can certainly accommodate your needs on a case by case basis!

Is Fotorando a new initiative?

It's brand new! A huge amount of work, planning and thought has gone into building Fotorando to offer unique, immersive, safe and fun classes. We're going places! Literally!
